If you have an appetite for working with a fast-growing, award-winning team that’s innovating at the intersection of education and the future of work, take a moment to evaluate the edtech company, Guild.
Guild works with leading Fortune 1000 employers to transform their education and upskilling programs through a proprietary technology platform, a payments system and a learning marketplace. Students served by the org are working adults, 33% of whom are parents, 36% are first in their family to attend college, and 51% are BIPOC.
Guild’s Senior Leadership Team is recruiting a senior Chief of Staff who can help them build and maintain a high functioning org that lives its 5 core values. In this role, you’ll work closely with Co-Founder & CEO, Rachel Carlson. You bring master-level communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills and deep pride in shared outcomes (among other quals). Compensation includes a base salary of $150K-$200K, bonus eligibility, and equity.
What I love
Guild is a Certified B Corporation, which means the team is committed to balancing purpose and profit. And, not for nothing, it’s the only B Corps with a 3.75B valuation (yep, billion).
Guild is female-led, including BIPOC representation - 3 of the 4 members of the Senior Leadership Team are women, filling the roles of Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, President & Chief Commercial Officer, and Chief Experience Officer & Head of Platform. All are seasoned executives.
One of Guild’s five core values is “Be an Owner,” i.e., “We balance autonomy with accountability and empower employees to deliver on our mission.” Lots of orgs use the word “owner” figuratively. Guild gives every employee equity in the company.
The team says it feels passionately about equal pay for equal work, and it translates this feeling into action by offering transparency in compensation. I’m cheering for this because it’s fair AND it builds trust within orgs.
I see an emphasis on experience over numbers and titles in the job description (a more inclusive approach to recruiting) and a strong wellness theme in the description of benefits.
Tip!
I wasn’t kidding when I described Guild as fast-growing. The org started 2020 with 450 employees and now has 940, with plans to hit 1300 by the end of of this year. If Chief of Staff isn’t a fit, but you’re excited about this org, check out Guild’s Careers page. There are upwards of 100 jobs listed, including remote-friendly opportunities.
