Planet is a leader in Earth observation. It images our little, blue marble every day and in the process has collected, on average, 1300 images of every place on Earth.
Described as an unprecedented dataset, Planet is creating a global stream of satellite imagery that can be fed into a variety of workflows for commercial and humanitarian applications.
In addition to developing cutting-edge geospatial data, tools and products, it also designs, builds and operates the world’s largest fleet of remote sensing satellites.
Planet is currently expanding into new markets like forestry, energy and natural resources, state and local government, and sustainability. In line with this expansion, its Impact team is recruiting two, paid interns to work on Planet’s Impact Measurement & Evaluation strategy.
In this role, you’ll assist VP of Sustainability and Impact Initiatives, Andrew Zolli, on a cross-functional study and customer engagement to determine how customers are creating measurable social and environmental impact with the company’s tools.
You come into this role with demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research skills and a strong interest in sustainability and social impact.
Note: “If this job intrigues you, but you’re thinking you might not have all the qualifications, please...do apply! At Planet, we are looking for well-rounded people from around the world who can contribute to more ways than just what is listed in this job description” and are “most excited about folks who are motivated by our underlying humanitarian efforts.”
What I love
The above note on belonging.
The founders come from NASA.
They have Wendy Tan White on their Board (VP of X, Alphabet’s Moonshot Factory).
The job description references the Sustainable Development Goals (too many folks still don’t know what these are).
And don’t miss Art at Planet. Planet has created and curated the largest art show in Earth's orbit. Hundreds of illustrations by employees, community, and resident artists have been laser etched into the side panels of their 150+ satellites. How cool is that?
Don’t forget…
