Friends, I’m back from a 2-week break with some great opportunities for you!
I’m a big fan of the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). This org empowers a global network of journalists to produce news reports that lead to better governments, stronger economies, more vibrant societies and healthier lives.
Working at the nexus of journalism and tech, ICFJ has supported more than 150,000 journalists from 180 countries over 36 years. It pursues its mission through programs, fellowships, and reporting contests.
The team is currently scouting a Program Manager to support its flagship program, the ICFJ Knight Fellowships. These fellowships are designed for entrepreneurial journalists and technology experts who are passionate about instilling a culture of innovation and experimentation in newsrooms worldwide.
In this role, you’ll oversee ICFJ Knight Fellows as they lead ground-breaking experiments and projects designed to improve people’s lives through cutting-edge journalism, and you’ll do so with a special focus on Latin America.
You bring to the role an understanding of journalism and international development, fluency in Spanish, a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience (among other quals). Location is Washington DC (although, see the hiring manager’s comment below - other locations could be considered, yay!), and salary is $51K.
What I love:
The impact of the Fellowships worldwide is inspiring!
You’ll be partnering with world-class innovators and change agents.
You’ll have the opportunity to represent the Fellowship program at major journalism conferences.
Your boss, Maggie Farley, has an exciting background as a career foreign correspondent. And she’s just arrived at ICFJ, having spent the last few years as a Teaching Fellow with the Google News Initiative.
Don’t forget, you can build your network by:
Following this org and the team members who inspire you.
Sharing this post if you know someone who’d be great for this role.
Commenting below if you have knowledge/insights/tips that might be helpful to those in the community evaluating this opportunity.
Program Manager, ICFJ Knight Fellowships
Thanks so much for highlighting this, Cari! Updating to say that the role is based in DC but can be remote in the right circumstances. It's a fast-growing and innovative team!
