Priority Deadline: May 12
Founded by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, iCivics is a US nonprofit that re-imagines civic education for American democracy, making it relevant to new generations of Americans through online games and innovative classroom resources – for free.
These games have been played by students a staggering 64 million times! And 300,000 teachers across all 50 US states are registered with iCivics. Last year, teacher accounts and active users grew at over 30%.
Currently, the iCivics team is looking for a Coordinator who can assist with the org’s CivXNow project, the nation's largest bipartisan coalition to fuel our democracy through K-12 civic education.
In this role, you’ll report to Shawn Healy, Senior Director of State Policy & Advocacy, and support policy and advocacy work, coalition-building, social media, event planning, research and other administrative duties. You bring passion for this space and 3+ years of overall professional experience (among other quals). Salary is $65K plus benefits and location is flexible.
What I love
What an amazing founder - the first female justice of the US Supreme Court! And she considers iCivics her most important legacy (see video).
The team is excited by candidates with unique and different work histories. Music to my ears. Pedigrees are overrated.
Don’t miss the “Why This Role is Compelling” section of the job description. Loving the focus on YOU and the kind of growth you can expect in this role. So often job descriptions fail to be human-centered.
iCivics has engaged Equitable Hiring Group to support this hiring process. Founded by Abe Taleb, EHG helps US nonprofits and impact-driven companies hire, and I really like the opportunities I see coming out of his shop!
Don’t forget…
You can follow this org, read about its team, and follow the team members whose profiles inspire you - a great way to build your social impact scenius!
