How do we build people power? Advocacy is one tool, i.e., the act of influencing decisions within institutions (political, economic, and social). If this topic intrigues you, you might find this opportunity exciting.
Led by CEO Romy Avila, Tides Advocacy is an org that exists to make advocacy as a tool accessible to social innovators in all sectors - specifically movement leaders and donors on the leading edge of social justice who are transforming systems and policies so that they work for everyone.
Tides Advocacy increases access by helping these changemakers navigate the complexities of advocacy while staying fully compliant. In the process, the org partners with changemakers on both back office (e.g., fiscal sponsorship) and front office (e.g., strategy development) work to collaboratively build power with and for the people most affected by injustice in the US.
To do this work well, the org’s team of experts is scouting an Operations Specialist who can provide both internal (i.e., team-facing) and external (i.e., client-facing) support. You bring to this role an undergraduate degree or equivalent, plus 3-5+ years of related work experience (among other quals). Salary appears to be $60-70K.
What I love
In this role, you’ll cultivate your movement leadership!
In the process, you’ll expand your network (don’t miss the org’s list of partners).
You’ll do this work under a fully BIPOC leadership team (from the executive suite to the Board). Romy has over a decade of experience in this field - including 5 years in a leadership role at Tides - and appears to be deeply passionate about her work.
Tip!
If you apply, consider inquiring about the opportunity to work remotely. I’ve seen two different announcements of this position, and one references remote work as a possibility.
Don’t forget…
You can follow this org, read about its team, and follow the team members whose profiles inspire you - a great way to build your social impact scenius!
