“Trusted. Valued. Essential.”
This is a PBS tagline, and in my experience, couldn’t be truer. Founded in 1969, PBS is America’s largest public media enterprise and one of my FAVORITE orgs in the world. Made up of 350+ local public noncommercial TV stations serving all 50 US states + territories, PBS stations reach a staggering 120M+ people every month through on-air and online content. Together with its member stations, the org bills itself as “America’s largest classroom,” and as an educator and former public servant, I couldn’t be happier to flag this opportunity.
Here’s the skinny. PBS has a digital learning platform called PBS LearningMedia that offers free educational resources for educators and students with the aim of enhancing educator practice and equitable student learning. The content for this platform is developed by a Content & Curriculum Team led by Kristin Lehner, and this team is looking for a colleague who has a passion for climate education, a good editorial eye, and strong project management skills.
What I love about this role is the content you’d get to play with (i.e., PBS’ awesome General Audience programming). I’m also cheering the fem power that’s stewarding the org, e.g., Paula Kerger (President & CEO, PBS), Lori Brittain (VP, PBS LearningMedia), and Kristin herself, who looks like excellent mentor material, having served PBS in six progressively responsible roles over the past 10 years. My only thumbs down about the job description is the lack of salary transparency. As a second best, here is some PBS salary data I found on Indeed. :)
Don’t forget to build your network as you job hunt!
