GlobalGiving is the world’s first crowdfunding community. It was launched in 2002 by two former World Bank staffers to connect nonprofits and social enterprises around the world to the funding, tools, training, and support they need to serve their communities.
GlobalGiving is recruiting a Community Experience Designer to join a new team focused on blending and enhancing the org’s community building and learning programming.
If you care about unlocking the wisdom of nonprofits and social enterprises around the world and creating a more connected and inspired philanthropic sector, this is an opportunity to consider.
You bring a passionate belief in the mission of GlobalGiving along with 3-5 years experience in learning design, community organizing, fundraising, or related fields (among other quals).
Salary is $61K-$70K and projected start date is mid July. The role will be filled remotely during the pandemic and then based at headquarters in Washington, D.C.
What I love
In operation for 19 years, GlobalGiving appears to have a strong platform and business and is demonstrating significant impact. E.g., the community raised a record-breaking $105M in 2020 for urgent causes around the world—about one-third of which was devoted to coronavirus responses.
The current CEO, Alix Guerrier, brings some great experience to his role. He started his career as a teacher (becoming a Teach for America fellow), got a Stanford MBA, spent some time at McKinsey, and then launched and led a successful edtech social enterprise for 8+ years until it was acquired.
The projects on the GlobalGiving platform are so varied and provide such a great intro to community-building happening around the world. I think a generalist would love the breadth here!
And, with regard to the role, I like seeing work/life balance emphasized and a benefits package that includes flexible work hours, remote work options, 5 weeks of paid time off per year, and professional development opportunities.
Don’t forget…
You can follow this org, read about its team, and follow the team members whose profiles inspire you - a great way to build your social impact scenius!
