I’m so excited about this opportunity! If you consider yourself a curious person with a desire to leverage your imagination to solve problems and make a positive impact in the world, you’re invited to apply to the Color by Design (CxD) Fellowship Program designed for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color).
Color by Design (CxD) is a partnership between IDEO & RepresentEd Leadership that is invested in transforming the boundaries of design thinking and human-centered design practice by ushering in a new generation of designers through a program that combines training to prepare you for your first design role with on-the-job learning.
This fellowship is a 9-month program - September 2021 to June 2022. The program includes a 3-month, part-time training course (September - December 2021), followed by a 6-month paid, full-time fellowship with IDEO (January - June 2022).
Applications open May 3 and close May 28. Excited to learn more? Register for the upcoming info session on May 5 at 5:30p PT. If you can't make the session, no problem. You can register to be notified as soon as the Fellowship application opens.
What I love
The fellowship will have an opportunity to convert to a permanent, full-time role after 6 months!
IDEO is the market leader when it comes to using design thinking to create positive impact in the world. You’ll be learning from the best. I’ve worked with IDEO for 2.5 years now (on the IDEO U side of the house) and can speak first-hand to what an awesome experience it is to collaborate with this talented team.
Recently IDEO stepped forward to acknowledge the white dominance of the design industry, recognize the harsh truths of the industry’s role in perpetuating inequity, accept its role in the problem, and commit to moving quickly and boldly to center equity across the org in five focus areas: talent, training, community, design, and culture. This fellowship appears to be IDEO walking its “centering” talk, and I’m here for it! (You can read about IDEO’s specific Diversity, Equity & Inclusion commitments here.)
Don’t forget…
You can follow this org, read about its team, and follow the team members whose profiles inspire you - a great way to build your social impact scenius!
