“We must prevent what we cannot cure.”
I’m a fan of taking a portfolio approach to career-building, i.e., working on a portfolio of projects (gigs) rather than just having one traditional job. Practicing this approach has helped me stay resilient in the face of uncertainty (think pandemic), experiment with a variety of roles and work environments, and expand my network and range as a professional. So I get excited when I come across a small gig in the climate space that I can flag for you, just in case you’re building a portfolio of work too.
This Climate & Health Fellowship with Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) is designed for a medical student, resident, or recent graduate in medicine, nursing, public health or allied profession. It requires 10 hours per week for 10 months and is fully remote. As a fellow, you’ll work closely with staff to develop educational programming, like the Next Generation Climate & Health Ambassador Program, that engages medical and health students and health professionals in learning about and responding to climate change.
Although it’s a small gig, I love that you’ll be working at the intersection of two really big topics, and you’ll get to do so in collaboration with what looks to be a small but mighty non-profit team (a Nobel Peace Prize winner, in fact) that gets out of bed everyday to protect human life from the gravest threats to health and survival. Sounds like superhero-level work to me. :)
(Note: PSR is also recruiting its next Executive Director. Do you know a senior leader who might be a fit? Please share!)
P.S. Don’t forget to build your network as you job hunt!
