Are you passionate about building strong communities? Do you have a big appetite to improve the functioning of our world’s democracies and the efficiency of public services? Do you thrive in an international environment? Then check out this exciting opportunity to work with CitizenLab, a social venture deemed the Top European Social Impact Startup in 2019 by TechCrunch Disrupt.
CitizenLab is currently recruiting a Business Developer to help grow adoption of its community engagement platform, which is currently used by 275+ local governments across 18+ countries to connect with residents, engage them in decision-making, and build trust through dialogue.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with an international team of business developers as you build relationships with local governments to sell CitizenLab’s vision of digital democracy and help get new cities on board around the globe.
You can be based in Europe or the US and the ideal candidate has a business degree and/or recent work experience in a marketing or sales. Do note, though: “Eagerness to learn, talent, and enthusiasm are more important than ticking the boxes. Even if not all desired requirements are met, but you're very excited about the role, we want to hear from you.”
What I love
This is a remote gig with a remote team. Hello #futureofwork!
They’re looking for someone who’s hungry to learn - e.g., learn how to work remotely with a global team, learn how to work effectively in different markets (France, UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, US), learn how to catalyze citizen participation to transform our democracies. Pretty cool stuff.
And music to my ears when it comes to innovating teams, “We invest heavily in making each other better.” A proof point? Team members work 10% of their time on personal projects and self-development.
Finally, I love the co-founders’ story. CitizenLab started when Wietse Van Ransbeeck, Aline Muylaert, and Koen Gremmelprez pursued their curiosity (what kind of communities do we want to live in?), discovered something interesting in the process (working with local gov can be hard!), and decided to harness an opportunity in front of them (let’s build and activate digital communities to improve opportunities for community engagement). Hello #socialentrepreneurship!
Don’t forget…
You can follow this org, read about its team, and follow the team members whose profiles inspire you - a great way to build your social impact scenius!
